I for one think whole thing is completely foolish. The main problem as I see it, is that way back when teachers realized they too could get a day off by not holding class on Fridays and thus giving the students the idea that this was ok. The fact that kids are partying on Thursday nights would probably happen regardless of whether there are classes on Friday and now that having no classes on Friday is so common , students would skip them even if they were there. Plus, even if they make more friday classes whats to say students are actaully going to TAKE these classes. People can take other classes just to get out of Friday ones. For instance, i only had class on Thursday and Tuesday and i did just fine. Plus to all those neighbors that complain that about the noise; YOU LIVE IN A UNIVERSITY AREA. Please, the next person i hear complain i am going to slap. Do you honestly expect to live within 4 blocks of a college campus and expect no noise, no drinking and no partying. You all love the sports teams and the revenue that the university brings to the city, but not the actual UNIVERSITY?? That makes no sense. Youve got to take the good with the bad, and kids drinking on a porch doesnt seem all that bad. You are gonna have a hard time convincing people a 3 day weekend is bad, especially when students are under such pressure.
